A Year in Review: 2012 Edition

I can honestly say that I've felt much more crafty this year than I have in the past.  In part, I'm sure its because I started quilting this year but I also realized how important it is for me to make time to be crafty.  It's part of who I am, it's part of what makes me happy.  I like creating things with my hands and at the end of it being able to hold something up and say "I made this!"  It helps that my husband always looks at whatever I make in wide-eyed wonder and gushes appropriately.

So let's see how we did this year, shall we?

Not too shabby at all!  I didn't get pics of just a few items, but all and all, not a bad year!

For 2013 I really want to do even more!  Each year Jinx and I try to pick a Top 3 to focus on.  The Top 3 is because we both have a huge sea of crafts and skills that we are interested in.  When you multi-class like that, it's easy to make sure that none of your skills really advance.  /nerdspeak

The Top 3 helps us focus our attention and make sure that we can invest time and money in those 3 things guilt-free.  It also helps with the "what do I want to work on today?" blues where too many choices can be paralyzing.

That said, my Top 3 for 2013 are (in no particular order):

1. Sewing - Clothes
2. Sewing - Quilts
3. Health and Fitness

Yeah, sewing is in there twice, but that's how serious I am about doing more of those two things.  My goal is to blog my way through the The Colette Sewing Handbook AND the Gertie Sewing Book and have a wardrobe full of hand-made clothes to wear.  I decided that this is the year that I focus on my style as much as just sewing stuff to sew things so prepare for a lot of inspiration mosaics!  One of the things I want to do is use Pinterest to help me come up with ideas for outfits and then recreate them with mostly hand-made pieces.  It'll be fun!!  I will do one a month!  Now I'm going to act like I didn't just think of this idea as I was typing this;  like it was all planned out and I meant to do this all along.

Focusing on my Health and Fitness has been an on-going job for the last year for me, but I intend to keep it up and want it to be a priority in my life.  That's why its on this list.  I call it a job because that shit is work, yo.  I may be adding bits about it to my blog, too.  At least a post or two about what work-outs I'm doing or new gadgets or recipes that I like.

There are still plenty of things that I like and love to do that will still get some time and attention like hoop dance, knitting, crochet, embroidery, cross-stitch, accessory sewing, drawing; but they just won't be as much of my focus compared to the others.

I am very excited to see what 2013 brings.  If I get even half of what I want, it's going to be one helluva year!
